Winter Sun Holidays ‘Cheaper Than Last Year’

Posted by Fay Bromilow on

Brexit has hit the UK’s currency, particularly in terms of its value against the euro, which means many people may not even bother to check your LED exchange rate boards to see if they can find an affordable holiday destination.

However, Prima shared research from holiday specialist On The Beach, which indicates that there are a host of winter sun destinations that are cheaper to visit than they were last year.

That’s even applicable to some EU destinations, with Larnaca in Cyprus cited as one place that’s cheaper to travel to this winter than it was last.

In Spain, Tenerife and the Costa Blanca were both named as places that offer good value for money by the holiday firm. Further afield, it was revealed that a break on Mexico’s Riviera Maya is now cheaper than 12 months ago too.

As a travel agent, this gives you a host of options to promote. Egypt has also got cheaper for Brits, in part due to the favourable exchange rate, so it could be worth promoting some of the most favourable exchange rates on your LED displays in your window.

Dalaman in Turkey was in fact at the top of the list of destinations that are cheaper this year, so there is plenty of variety within Europe and further afield.

In the age of online holiday bookings, it’s vital for high street travel agents to differentiate themselves and provide value-added service. Stoke on Trent Live recently spoke to people about whether they still use a travel agent following news of a Thomas Cook profit warning.

One gentleman told the newspaper that he still likes to go to a travel agent as it means there is someone they can call if things go wrong. However, another said that the convenience of booking online trumps visiting a travel agent.
