With half term just around the corner for many schools in the UK, travel agents may be looking at ways to encourage parents to book a last-minute getaway for a few days or even a week.
However, one of the main issues is combatting the perception that family holidays during breaks from school are expensive, so travel agents should be looking at ways of proving to parents that trips can be more affordable than they might think.
Gazette Live recently shared some advice from Travel Supermarket about how to bag a bargain break, including looking at travelling from different airports.
The news provider highlighted the cost of a seven-night trip from Newcastle to Tenerife, starting at £565 per person, but noted that the same break comes in at £146 each if you travel from Manchester instead.
Another top tip is to pick a destination like the UAE, where greater competition from new hotels and restaurants has seen prices fall in many places.
Or to look at less well-known destinations. A top pick is Romania, according to travel commentator at Travel Supermarket Emma Coulthurst, who described the nation as “one of the most underrated places on the planet”.
As a travel agent, you can help people find the best deals, and using LED window displays to highlight the best deals for families could help draw people in.
Given that the British pound finally seems to be strengthening against the euro again too, now could be the ideal time for people to travel to the continent for a getaway that doesn’t break the bank.
