Samsung Electronics has been making a name for itself in the LED display industry this year, always competing to create the biggest and best screens in the world.
This week, it revealed it has built the largest smart LED digital out-of-home (DOOH) screen in South America, having installed the impressive signage outside of the Plaza Norte shopping centre in Peru’s capital Lima.
The XA160F SMART LED Signage outdoor display comprises 528 cabinets, stretches 487 sq m and has a 16.0mm pixel pitch, giving it an enhanced resolution, AV Interactive reported.
In addition to this, it can withstand different weather conditions as it meets the IP65 standard. It is also able to maintain levels of 7,700 nits thanks to its anti-UV treatment, which means it will not deform or discolour as a result of the sunshine.
This will be a great feature for the 200,000 sq m mall, allowing visitors to stop and watch an event unfold on the big screen or even catch a big sports game before heading into the shopping centre.
Lima’s new DOOH screen is just one of the latest products from Samsung Electronics this year. In March, it unveiled the biggest curved LED display in Korea, with the screen taking centre stage at the new COEX and World Trade Centre in Seoul.
It covers a surface area of 1,620 sq ft – measuring four times the size of a basketball court – and engineers were busy installing the impressive spectacle for seven months, the news provider revealed.
