Purdue University has taken basketball to the next level thanks to internal LED displays, with a centre-hung display system to be installed above the court made up of four curved video displays.
According to Digital Signage Connection, another four video displays will be installed in each corner of the arena, while four ribbon displays will be set up by the seating fascia. These are all capable of showing variable content zoning, so they can display one big image or be split up into separate zones so live video, game stats, instant replays, sponsorship messages and more can be displayed at the same time.
Purdue vice-president and athletics director Mike Bobinski explained that the new boards will help deliver even more engagement and energy to the game day atmosphere – keeping fans entertained and benefiting the university’s basketball programmes.
Daktronics representative Ryan Stratton added: “We’re excited to work with Purdue University on such a complex design for new video display in Mackey Arena. The new centre-hung configuration will bring excitement and energy to the building during every home game and we’re looking forward to seeing it happen this winter for the Boilermakers.”
Similarly, the Pittsburgh Steelers recently announced that they would be installing a new 13HD pixel layout display for even better resolution. Variable content zoning will also be a feature here – which will really help with promoting advertising opportunities to businesses looking to sponsor the team. This would certainly be worth bearing in mind if you too want to encourage companies to sponsor you and your brand in the future.
