Memorial Coliseum To Install New LED Boards

Posted by Fay Bromilow on

If you ever decide to watch a US sport online, then LED boards are one piece of equipment that you will see in almost any stadium. Whether it is baseball or basketball, it benefits fans on both sides to have access to important information in real time. Of course, the same applies to popular sports in the UK, whether it is football or cricket.

LEX18 reports that the Memorial Coliseum in Lexington, Kentucky has plans to install a new LED video board, which will span approximately 1,800sq ft. The screen, which will be 30ft by 60ft in dimensions, will be installed on the Avenue of Champions side of the stadium and is expected to be ready by October.

The large-sized board won’t be the only addition coming to Memorial, though. There is also the plan to introduce an LED ribbon board at the same time, which will be 100ft in width. It will be placed on the opposite side of the video board, with both screens using a 5.2mm display with a 4800-hertz refresh rate.

Mitch Barnhart, director at UK Athletics, commented: “We believe these new video and ribbon boards will transform the experience of women’s basketball, volleyball and gymnastics fans in Memorial. They represent a major upgrade from what we currently have in place and we look forward to using them to engage our fans.”

You will find that this is only the beginning of some sweeping changes expected to come to the Memorial, as UK Athletics is aiming to transform it into a state-of-the-art venue.
