Although we haven’t yet got through Halloween, there’s no doubt that businesses all over the UK are preparing for the festive season, with Christmas trees, snowmen and reindeer sneaking into window displays up and down the country.
If you’re looking for a different way to entice shoppers into your store, you might want to think about using an LED countdown clock in your window display. This could highlight the number of shopping days remaining until 25 December, encouraging people to start their festive spending a bit earlier this year.
Retail expert Corin Birchall recently told Lincolnshire Live that retailers, and particularly smaller businesses, need to make the real shopping experience as pleasant as possible to help draw some sales away from the online environment.
He stated that giving customers a good experience in your store is vital, as is ensuring that any incredible window displays aren’t let down by what people find when they step inside.
Mr Birchall offered some advice about creating standout window displays: “A shop window with movement instantly draws you in. It’s one of those evolutionary things to stop you being eaten” he explained.
Using an LED countdown clock, or other screens with changing messages on them, could therefore help you attract attention.
As a retailer it pays to get organised for Christmas now, because people are starting to spend on the festive season earlier and earlier. Verdict recently highlighted figures from GlobalData Retail’s annual Christmas tracker, which showed the number of people buying Christmas decorations and lights in mid-October has doubled between 2013 and 2016.
The main reason for people shopping earlier is likely to be to help spread the cost of the festive season, the publication suggested.
