Austin Texas Venue Gets $2m LED Display

Posted by Fay Bromilow on

The Frank Erwin Center, one of the best-known basketball venues in Austin, Texas, has had an enormous $2 million (£1.5 million) LED display installed.

Spanning 3,500 square feet, the huge display is part of a $4.25 million renovation of the facility, The Daily Texan Online reported.

The new display was used recently for a women's preseason basketball match and delighted fans with a video of highlights and clips of the home team in training.

Women's head coach Karen Aston was quoted as saying: "You want to have great energy and enthusiasm when you’re in the arena ... [The display] gives you an extra lift and makes the environment more entertaining. This will make the fans more excited and hyped, and that makes our team more excited."

The LED system includes four displays which show the activity down on the court, as well as other promotional videos and announcements. Four upper displays show game statistics and a lower ring displays the game's sponsors.

Government senior Eric Kasper was quoted as saying: "I think it’ll make the entire arena look way more professional. The players will be pumped up when they see the school has invested in them, and it’ll probably attract more crowds."

If this story wasn't enough to encourage you to look for LED displays online for your venue or business, the BBC recently reported that a huge six-screen LED display has been installed at London's Piccadilly Circus, bringing messages and marketing to the millions who pass through the busy concourse daily.
